Episode Info:

On this episode of Enlightened-ish, Hannah and Kelsey continue their unapologetic conversation on womanhood with Gloria Hart. They talk #MeToo and finding the delicate balance between having the bravery to speak your truth and the wisdom to know when it’s safe to do so.

Gloria bravely shares her journey from sexual assault victim to survivor. From therapy, soul searching, gurus, and eastern medicine in India, to learning how to share what she needed most from others in her life, Gloria discovered she could be both a strong independent woman AND a survivor. She shares her powerful spoken-word poem, "On Womanhood: From Mine to Yours and Ours," a collection of stories from women in her family.

We are all connected, Gloria says, and we all have our own story.

We talk about:

  • Speaking your truth and sharing your conviction while also learning about, and respecting, other cultures
  • Choosing whether or not to participate in the #MeToo movement
  • Using your platform to share your truth in a safe space
  • Learning how to reclaim your voice by acknowledging what you want from those in your tribe
  • Avoiding shame and guilt when healing is not linear
  • Giving yourself permission to be happy
