About This Show
Ritual is a podcast about how humans make patterns of meaning in a maddening world. The rituals we discuss will span centuries and civilizations. They will run the gamut from the ornately performative to the relatively mundane. Season One focuses on the quest for immortality and how we cope with our own expiration dates.

The first story ever written, the Epic of Gilgamesh, tells the story of a quest for immortality. This quest for meaning affects the lives of our current listeners as much as the heroes of epic. In the last episode of the season, you get one more chance to savor my dramatic storytelling, and a few more questions I don't have answers to.

my new Ritual
I was told about this new podcast by my daughter, and while it is a bit targeted towards millennials, anyone who has an innate curiosity will love it.
This season focuses on the rituals performed by various civilizations to ensure their immortality. Heavy topic, but the host handles it with grace, dancing deftly between solemnity and sarcasm.
I find myself quite drawn into the episodes, often wanting to listen a second time. Sometimes that's due to the fascinating topics, sometimes it's due to the host's smooth and witty delivery. And the well-researched show notes are always a treat.
I highly recommend you try Ritual.

For what sounds like a young podcast, this is excellent. The premise is interesting, the host is charming, and the writing, while sometimes a little confusing, is generally informative and funny. If Serial and Lore had a baby, this is probably close to what it would sound like.
Also, they started their first episode out with Hitler and Mormons. So it was pretty easy to get hooked.
