The communists took over Ethiopia in 1974; and for three years, the Konnerups tried to remain in the country. Brother Konnerup was arrested and charged with treason. When he was released, he was deported from Ethiopia. I want to welcome you back to Missionary on Fire. My family first met the Konnerups when they were in Denver, Colorado, just after Brother Konnerup was released from Ethopia. My father was in the Air Force, and he was just about to be Honorably Discharged. My father had been saved in the military, and he did not know of any Independent Baptist Churches in East Texas where we would be moving. He asked Missionary Konnerup if he knew of any churches in that area that he would recommend. Missionary Konnerup said that he had a supporting church in Center, Texas - Central Baptist Church pastored by Brother Roy Wallace. My parents are still very active members of that church. Brother Wallace has gone to heaven. I am so thankful for a missionary pointing my family to a good church! In 1978, the Konnerups moved to Kenya. For the last 34 years, they have faithfully served the Lord on that mission field! Bible Verse: John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Failure and Lessons: Missionary Richard Konnerup tells about working with nationals to build buildings and in doing so he built some great relationships.
