Episode Info: 154 Go and Sin No More - A Guided Christian Meditation on John 8:9-11 I’m Chaplain Jared and I work as a hospice chaplain and an ICU chaplain, my purpose in making this podcast is to help you find more peace in your life and to be more open for your heart to be changed by the Spirit of God.  By using centuries old form of Christian Meditation named Lectio Divina: Outline: Relaxation, Reading, Meditation, Prayer, Contemplation and Visualization. Get into a place where you can sit comfortably and uninterrupted for about 20 minutes. You should hopefully not be driving or anything tensing or unrelaxing.  If you feel comfortable to do so, I invite you to close your eyes.  Guided Relaxation / Guided Meditation: Breathe and direct your thoughts to contacting God. Let your stomach be a balloon inflate, deflate. Bible verses for Meditation: John 8:9-11 KJV 9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. 10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? 11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. NABRE 9 And in response, they went away one by one, beginning with the elders. So he was left alone with the woman before him.  10 Then Jesus straightened up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”  11 She replied, “No one, sir.” Then Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go, [and] from now on do not sin any more.”  Meditation on Scripture:  How do you do at following what God has asked you to do? How do you treat those who you see failing to live as you think is right? How do you treat those who are successful at hiding their sins from you?  This scripture is so powerful to me. The Law of Moses was given by God. It is the same Jehovah who gave Moses the law is the same one standing in Judgement of the woman. The woman who was brought before Jesus had been caught performing a sexually impure act. The law had a stated punishment for this offense. It was death by stoning. These people brought a trap for Jesus. If he excused the woman he would be speaking against the law. If he consented to her death he would miss a most valuable teaching opportunity and this woman could not learn from her sin.  He told them that whoever is without sin should cast the first stone. The people perceived their own guilt and retreated without having cast stones at her. She must have been terrified and traumatized by some a horrible prospect to die in such a painful and gruesome way. What is worse is that she knew she had sinned. Jesus’ command reflects the essence of His love. He didn’t say it was OK. He didn’t say “Oh don’t worry about it.” He found a middle way. He stressed the importance of purity while also teaching mercy....
