3 Things Small Business Owners Shouldn’t Do on Facebook
Feb 7, 2014

5 minutes
This past week we have provided dozens of ideas on how to improve your facebook presence and we have presented many new action items and tasks that you can undertake. Today, in our final post for this mini-series, I want to talk about what not to do on facebook. I hope these three tips will help you solidify your facebook strategy and move forward to use this incredible platform to grow your business. #1 - Don't Target Everyone. In marketing, if you try to sell everyone, you usually sell no one. Don't get discouraged when you see your larger competitors with thousands of facebook likes. The number of likes is not nearly as important as the quality of each client relationship. Start small and decide that you are only going to invest your marketing dollars targeting individuals who have a high likelihood of purchasing something in your store. #2 - Don't Add "Friends" who are not "Friends." I have seen some small business owners send friend requests to those who have liked their facebook page. Before long, they start to feel a little nervous about sharing pics of their kids on their personal facebook page. Your personal page is for real friends and for personal posts. I never post links to my blog articles or business related items on my personal facebook timeline, I keep that for friends only and talk about my life and family. On our CCBizPro Facebook page, I post my blog articles and engage with my clients. #3 - Don't Delay Your Facebook Strategy. Time is not on your side! Facebook Graph Search is already out and within 12 to 18 months, potential customers will be using facebook to find the businesses in their local area that have the most likes. You will want to be at the top of this list so start your facebook strategy now and be one of the few businesses in your local market to have a real facebook presence. I have enjoyed writing these posts and I hope you have enjoyed reading them! If you have any questions for me, please post them in the comments below or email james@ccbizpro.com
