Episode Info

Episode Info: One of the most striking things about the Council of Trent is how little people know about the council but have strong opinions about it. In this episode, we talk about the fact that most people’s knowledge about the Council of Trent comes through word-of-mouth. In contradistinction to this shallow understanding of Trent’s actual statements, the actual documents produced by the Council of Trent are enormous. In this episode, we encourage our listeners to take the time to read the translated documents of the Council of Trent. Using those translations as a starting point, we argue, is an excellent place to begin one’s study of this extremely important council in the history of the Catholic Church. Join us this week as we talk about the Council of Trent and the importance of studying its decrees in their historical context.   To comment on this show or provide feedback, please navigate to The Catholic Heritage is devoted to helping Catholic Christians better understand the history, teachings and culture of their Catholic faith so that they can better love and serve Christ, the Church and their neighbors.
