Episode Info:

The most important question we will ever answer is: “Who do you say I am?” (Matt. 16:15, Mark 8:29, Luke 9:20) Jesus asked His disciples this question during His earthly ministry. In those days, many thought that He was John the Baptist, Elijah or one of the prophets raised from the dead because that inexplicable miracle was easier to accept than the reality of God Himself. To acknowledge the reality of God’s Presence is to acknowledge that we were made to be dependent upon Him for all good things, and that our purpose is only ever satisfied in unconditional allegianceto the One who made us. This is why many resist acknowledging His reality, to claim their own limited sovereignty and proudly defend their own comfort.

Jesus places the same question before us today, and answering it is the chief purpose of our earthly existence: “Who do you say I am?” Every created soul is confronted by the inescapable decision to freely choose submission to God, or rebellion. Our answer will determine the nature of our purpose, identity and everlasting destiny.
