Episode Info: It’s easy for people to say that they hate their work and wished they did something else. After all, almost760 percent of Americans are not satisfied with their work. But saying it and taking action on it are two different things. Looking for work you enjoy can be a job in itself. The effort and time in finding a new career in freelancing that you enjoy can be minimized by laying the groundwork for a plan of action. By making the wrong decisions, energy is wasted. Understanding ourselves and what we want is the first step. The right direction is based on strengths and values. Knowing what your purpose is, at the risk of sounding cheesy, your roadmap to success.  People are driven by different things and even more so by what interests them and makes them happy. People don’t make purpose happen. They follow their purpose to see how it develops and makes life better. Think of your first mission as defining your mission. Companies and organizations have mission statements that describe them and what they do. You can also develop a mission statement based on your values, motivations, talents and skills. It can range from helping others to making money.  It focuses on what you need to do to get where you want to be. Answer these questions: What makes you happy? How do you define success? What will it take to reach your goals? What issues  get you fired up (in a positive way)? What natural talents do you have that people compliment you on? Knowing you purpose and mission helps define what opportunities work for you.
