Two different hilarious topical shows!
Friday Night Comedy alternates between The News Quiz, which is the UK's equivalent of Wait Wait Don't Tell Me and The Now Show, a sketch comedy show about current events. Both are hilariously funny to this American listener even when they are talking about exclusively UK events. In the photo used to illustrate the show is Sandi Toksvig, a Danish born Englishwoman who is the host of the News Quiz. I wish they would change the picture when they are running episodes of The Now Show to show the cast of that program. Nevertheless, Friday Night Comedy is wonderful no matter which show is presented!

Smart and Eclectic but also Bipolar
One's spoiled for choice with the assortment of comedic minds on offer in this podcast. Be they commenting, pontificating, satirizing, or singing out their views on the week's goings on, they rarely disappoint in dragging a laugh out the listener. The broadcast consists of either The Now Show or The News Quiz, both alternating somewhat irregularly. This dual nature can be a bit of a nuisance. Especially if you, like myself, tend to enjoy the one show (The News Quiz) more than the other. Easily a Friday ritual listen.

a study in irreverent repartee
This disarming format has for years been a rendezvous for the Britain's great wry minds. A brilliantly successful cocktail of truth-based wit. Been collecting the show for ages. They never grow old. The mere pace and mix of idiosyncratic personalities will pull you out of any black mood or lethargy. Guaranteed to make you look looney if you listen with earphones on the subway. The model for the TV quiz Have I got News for You... If you don't already, you really should know this show.

Assorted comedy
This show actually alternates between The News Quiz, The Now Show, and occasional other programs. All are funny, though the News Quiz is my favorite. Started listening because someone suggested it since I like Wait Wait Don't Tell Me (the NPR news quiz). Lots of fun and as a bonus I know a bit more about British politics and news now.

Loving the long distance tickling
A must-download each week - even the local-specific gags are funny for a devoted listener on the other side of the planet - because it sounds like everyone' having so much fun. Wish there were two podcasts instead of the alternating Friday Night panel with Sandy and the folk from the Now Show. Wish we had radio like this here!

Excellent example of British comedy
A satirical take on the week's news. The old-fashioned theme tune belies the fresh comedy. Regular guests include Andy Hamilton, Susan Calman and Jeremy Hardy. Slightly surreal at times with some good-natured banter with the host Sandi Toksvig. Includes amusing newspaper clippings sent in from around the world.

Must Hear Radio!
Friday night Comedy is a fantastic program that is part of my weekend ritual. From the News Quiz to the Now Show, one is entertained and educated by a cast that doesn't take itself too seriously. As one who works in the world of radio, i say Bravo on great radio.

Much Needed Laughs!
At a time when news is often bad, Friday Night Comedy is an intelligent, witty, irreverent, sometimes delightfully silly half-hour that takes the mickey out of the stories that make the news.I look forward to each installment. Keep 'em coming!
