Back End Software Developer - Mobile Client Services

To improve our end-user products and our infrastructure as well as accommodate our continued growth, we’re looking for a stellar backend web software developer to join our team. In this role, you’ll play a significant part in designing and implementing improvements and enhancements to our web properties and to our end-user services in general. You’ll develop new features on the Stitcher backend service and help our client teams integrate those features into our mobile and web apps, as well as on consumer platforms like Alexa, Sonos and various automotive dashboards. You will also work to maintain and improve overall system reliability and scalability to ensure a great end-user experience for our growing audience of users. What you’ll do:

  • Play a central role in architecting and implementing the server components of new features for the Stitcher service, and implement those features on our platform as appropriate by working with other parts of the development team including data engineers, mobile client developers and front end web developers
  • Use state-of-the-art monitoring and profiling tools to analyze system performance and architect, plan and implement optimizations to improve throughput and user experience
  • Re-architect and enhance our the B2B portal used by our 50,000+ content providers, allowing them to manage and monitor their content on the Stitcher platform
  • Re-architect and enhance our internal CMS portal, used by the Stitcher/Midroll content team to publish, manage and monitor both Stitcher produced and externally produced content
  • Re-architect and enhance our various other web properties including our web app that allows listeners to sync their listening with our mobile apps
  • Re-architect and enhance the server side services used by all our other clients
  • Collaborate with the Stitcher / Midroll team to help create and execute on Stitcher/Midroll’s strategy to be the leading full stack services provider in the podcasting space.

Back End Software Developer - Content Management and Ingestion

What you’ll do:

  • Work to improve the reliability of and optimize the performance of our content ingestion system. The Stitcher service delivers millions of episodes from over a hundred thousand shows coming from tens of thousands of content providers. Keeping everything up-to-date and available is a major driver of user satisfaction!
  • Manage a wide range of automated processes that help get our end users to the content they want to hear including email, push notifications, and more.
  • Implement or improve performance monitoring and visualization systems such as Kibana, New Relic, etc.

UX Designer

The User Experience Designer will be responsible for UI and visual design for our mobile apps (iOS and Android), our web app, our automotive and consumer electronics integrations, as well as our partner portal and back office tools . What you’ll do:

  • Define problems and goals, then translate complex requirements into simple, elegant and effective product concepts via collaboration with product management and engineering teams.
  • Play a central role in a major redesign of both product and brand in 2018, which means lots of exploration and mock ups - bring your imagination!

As a Product Manager on the team, you will be the owner of or contributor to multiple products within the Stitcher platform. What you’ll do:

  • Define the future of podcast listening by creating product specifications, including wireframe designs, and working with the Design team to create prototypes and mockups
  • Work closely with Stitcher’s world class content team to create compelling content & programming experiences as well as internal and partner tools to enable them
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to provide product marketing details, ensure the marketing team is aware of upcoming product launches, and the customer acquisition team has the analytics necessary to grow the user base

What you’ll bring to the job:

The ideal candidate will be someone skilled at working at the intersection of business, technology and user experience. You should be highly skilled at all aspects of product management - product strategy, data gathering and analysis, synthesis and prioritization of requirements, wireframing/specification writing, development cycle management, bringing apps to market and then improving them based on qualitative and quantitative user feedback.

  • 5-8 years of product management experience designing, creating and shipping a successful consumer software product(s)
  • 2-3 years minimum of product management experience focused on consumer mobile applications
  • Experience working on web applications, web based tools for internal and external users, and advertising platforms
  • Passion for podcasts & audio products generally
  • Able to motivate others to achieve great things through exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented with a sense of humor

Preferred:

  • Experience planning and executing user research/usability studies

As the Customer Support Manager, you will define the strategic plan for Stitcher Customer Support, lead all areas related to support activities, and work closely with various technology teams to provide user feedback input into the product development process and communicate updates out to users once available.   • Lead all customer facing support for the large and growing Stitcher user base of free and paid podcast listeners.
  • Review ticket submissions on a daily basis to determine if widespread system issues are being experienced.
  • Coordinate oversight of activities associated with the identification, prioritization, and timely resolution of reported problems and requests from internal and external customers across all Stitcher platforms (mobile, desktop, automotive, home speaker).

  • Manage the documentation of successful support resolutions to be leveraged by staff for future issues.

  • Receive and compile incoming feature requests from consumers via app store comments or direct channels; proactive review of and response to app store and social comments for Stitcher products.
  • Continuously evaluate applicable service desk vendors with the goal of improving our toolset and processes.

  • Provide timely statistical reports to management for assessment of customer satisfaction, ticket open and close velocity and effectiveness of customer support overall.

Quality Assurance Manager

The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager will define the strategic plan for Stitcher QA, lead all areas related to software testing and QA activities, and work closely with various technology teams to build testing strategies and execution plans. You’ll be responsible for both the ongoing monitoring of production versions of our products as well as new product development testing, certification and release. You will conceptualize, draft and own a testing methodology to be applied across projects as varied as mobile apps, web apps, automotive integrations, home speaker integrations and backoffice tools. What you’ll do:

  • Lead Stitcher’s QA team and overall QA program, working with product and development teams to deliver world class products to market.
  • Drive all functional, integration and regression testing necessary to deliver high quality updates to Stitcher’s consumer, partner and backoffice products.
  • Collaborate with product and development teams and make recommendations where appropriate to improve product quality and timely delivery of products to market.
  • Evaluate and recommend QA tools/vendors/products that cost effectively improve QA coverage and ultimately help deliver higher quality product releases.
  • Maintain testing metrics to measure QA effectiveness and development quality as well as to help predict release timelines based on bug count/new bug/fix rates.
  • Actively participate in sprint planning by contributing QA deliverable estimates.
  • Function as a subject matter expert in software QA and maintain an understanding of key digital industry trends, technologies and best practices as they relate to QA.
  • Directly supervise and lead direct reports - hiring, performance feedback and annual reviews, compensation recommendations and skills development.

The ideal candidate will be someone who is passionate about developing great consumer software products and successfully scaling them. They will bring great ideas and enthusiasm to the process and team combined with an ability to expediently execute in a fast changing environment. They will also have:

  • Extensive experience in applications development QA across varied platforms including mobile and web.
  • Deep understanding of and familiarity with quality assurance tools such as project management software, bug tracking systems and automation tools.
  • Experience setting up QA tools and processes for large and small companies, including tools implementation.
  • Experience building release management processes to ensure timely and transparent feature releases.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple testing engagements simultaneously in a cross-functional environment and effectively prioritize tasks.
  • Solid working knowledge of mobile and web technologies including infrastructure, as well as app development.
