DevOps Engineer

Our development team is growing, and to help us grow we are looking for a skilled DevOps engineer with strong AWS experience. In this role you will work collaboratively with our development, data and operations teams to deploy and operate our systems, and help automate and streamline our operations, controls, and processes. You will design and build tools for deployment, monitoring, automated testing, and operations and help troubleshoot and resolve issues in our development, test, and production environments. What You'll Do

  • Develop our top-of-class CI/CD pipeline to speed time to deployment while minimizing errors and downtime
  • Get deep into our Change Management systems to deploy infrastructure as code in ways that let us scale rapidly and shift gears and technologies quickly
  • Create and improve the telemetry, monitoring and alerting systems to ensure rapid response to issues and high availability of the service for end users.
  • Help integrate next generation technologies into our development and production environments to keep our developers at the cutting edge and our systems purring like kittens
  • Interact with our development team on security and performance best practices to improve our user experience and defend against the black hats of the world
  • Work with the operations team to ensure new code meets production environment needs and improves the user experience without sacrificing infrastructure costs or performance
  • Collaborate with the Stitcher / Midroll team to help create and execute on Stitcher/Midroll's strategy to be the leading full stack services provider in the podcasting space.

What You'll Bring To The Job

The ideal candidate will be someone who is passionate about developing great consumer software products and successfully scaling them. They will bring great ideas and enthusiasm to the process and team combined with an ability to expediently execute in a fast changing environment. They will also have:

  • Strong background in Linux/Unix Administration
  • Strong background in complex AWS cloud environments
  • Experience with automation/configuration management using either Puppet, Chef or an equivalent
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services (experience with AWS is required)
  • Strong experience with SQL and MySQL (NoSQL experience is a plus)
  • A working understanding of code and script (Shell, PHP, Python, Perl and/or Ruby)
  • Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service

Data Engineer

As a Data Engineer at Stitcher, you will be part of a fast moving data team and responsible for the information needs of the organization, answering analytical questions, building and maintaining the metrics dashboard, monitoring the health status of the data ecosystem and digging into the vast repository of raw data to extract meaningful insights. You help support the existing pipeline, dashboards, metrics and data products such as search, recommendations and user statistics, and will be integral to designing and building new data products/systems. You will be immersed in a wide variety of data-centric technologies and will have an opportunity to both learn and contribute your knowledge to the improvement of the product.

What You'll Do

  • Support and maintain the data pipeline and responsibility for data timeliness and accuracy
  • Work with senior data staff on machine learning projects including classification, transcription, natural language processing
  • Work with other data engineers to support several hundred python and PHP processes that run daily to produce our metrics and product facing statistics.
  • Build new systems to deliver insights to executive and product teams
  • Build new data products that will be integrated into the Stitcher product used by millions of people.
  • Ad-hoc statistical analysis and exploration
  • Support content, marketing customer acquisition teams with targeted population and list generation.

What You'll Bring To The Job

The ideal candidate will possess experience in python, data pipeline systems (we use ELK, redis, Redshift, MySQL), AWS and machine learning technologies. Additionally:

  • 2+ years SQL knowledge (Redshift/PostgreSQL/MySQL)
  • 2 years experience in at least one of the following: python (preferred), PHP, Java
  • Understanding of the ELK stack (Elasticsearch/Logstash/Kibana), with knowledge of Ruby preferred
  • Experience with BI & reporting dashboards (Periscope, Tableau, etc)
  • Knowledge of dev-ops and configuration management (puppet, chef, etc.)
  • NoSQL data experience: Redis, Elasticsearch, Hadoop, Spark

To improve our end-user products and our infrastructure as well as accommodate our continued growth, we’re looking for a stellar backend web software developer to join our team. In this role, you’ll play a significant part in designing and implementing improvements and enhancements to our server software infrastructure. What you’ll do:

  • Work to improve the reliability of and optimize the performance of our content ingestion system. The Stitcher service delivers millions of episodes from over a hundred thousand shows coming from tens of thousands of content providers. Keeping everything up-to-date and available is a major driver of user satisfaction!
  • Manage a wide range of automated processes that help get our end users to the content they want to hear including email, push notifications, and more.
  • Implement or improve performance monitoring and visualization systems such as Kibana, New Relic, etc.

The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager will define the strategic plan for Stitcher QA, lead all areas related to software testing and QA activities, and work closely with various technology teams to build testing strategies and execution plans. You’ll be responsible for both the ongoing monitoring of production versions of our products as well as new product development testing, certification and release. You will conceptualize, draft and own a testing methodology to be applied across projects as varied as mobile apps, web apps, automotive integrations, home speaker integrations and backoffice tools. What you’ll do:

  • Lead Stitcher’s QA team and overall QA program, working with product and development teams to deliver world class products to market.
  • Drive all functional, integration and regression testing necessary to deliver high quality updates to Stitcher’s consumer, partner and backoffice products.
  • Collaborate with product and development teams and make recommendations where appropriate to improve product quality and timely delivery of products to market.

  • Experience building release management processes to ensure timely and transparent feature releases.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple testing engagements simultaneously in a cross-functional environment and effectively prioritize tasks.
