Sunday Night Showdown presented its first show of 2015, covering the Royal Rumble in Philadelphia with “Mr. Money On The Mic” Jeff Jackson, Mark “The Shark” Dicarlo, and “BronxZilla” Tony J. Mirabella. The preshow saw Cesaro and Tyson Kidd defeat the New Day. The Ascension made quick work of the New Age Outlaws, and the Usos retained their tag team titles against The Miz and Mizdow. The Bella twins defeated Paige and Natalya in what was a very decent Divas match. This is where Sunday Night Showdown briefly went off the tracks, as the boys had some comments about Paige’s recent tweets about her “Aunt Flow.” It was then on the WWE World Heavyweight title match featuring the champ Brock Lesnar taking on John Cena and Seth Rollins in a triple threat. This was easily match of the night, with the highlight being a SICK Macho Man-like elbow drop by Rollins to the outside onto a prone Brock Lesnar. In the end, Brock managed to rebound and retain the gold. Finally it was time for the Royal Rumble match itself. Miz and R-Truth were numbers 1 and 2 respectfully, and the match had some surprises including Bubba Ray Dudley, The Boogeyman and Diamond Dallas Page! Towards the end, things took a negative turn as Dolph Ziggler, one of the fan favorites, was eliminated in about 5 minutes! The Philly crowd was NOT happy, nor were the hosts of Sunday Night Showdown! In the end it came down to 3. Big Show, Kane and Roman Reigns, with Roman winning it all. The crowd was SEETHING over this. The Rock showed up to save his cousin from an after-match beat down by Show and Kane. Rusev, who apparently had not been eliminated, was thrown over the top by Roman. SNS went off the air with the three hosts not giving this Special Event a good letter grade. JJ was so upset with this lackluster Rumble that he ended the show with a rant, and the revelation that you can take this job and shove it. Check out the archive right here on the SNS Radio Network.
