Sorry for the long delay, but we are back! Joe interviews Author Dan Arel about his new book,The Secular Activist: A How-to Manual for Protecting the Wall between the Separation of Church and State. The interview was about 49 minutes long initially, but technical issues reared their ugly heads and cut it down immensely. It's a damned shame. Kate enlightens us with another fucked up Bible story and Joe opines about secular activism. Enjoy!

It's always good to hear some truth coming out of the south and these guys are right in the heart of it striking at the heart of it. It says it all right in the title, "Unbuckling The Bible Belt". It matters. Go public. Come out of the atheist closet. If these guys can do a podcast and be as open as this right in the buckle of the bible belt, you can do it too!

Subject matter good; excessive vulgarism is not
I actually enjoyed the various subjects discussed in the 5-6 episodes I listened to, for the most part. However, the excessive middle school boy use of sexual innuendo and vulgarisms turns me off. I'm not concerned about the odd F-bomb and the odd sexual innuendo at all, but going overboard seems to be just juvenile.
There are plenty of similar atheist podcasts out there the do not rely on this. Look, I'm not a prude, and can make a sailor turn embarrassed, but I use it when appropriate, not gratuitously.
You get one chance to make a first impression, (OK... 5-6 in my case). But you've lost a listener, and a potential donor (I am a regular donor to other podcasts). I suspect I will not be back to check if things have changed. And yes, I'm only one person, but how many just unsubscribe because of this?
Good luck regardless. I like the message, just not how it is being disseminated.
