We are pleased to have one of Jason’s investments as our guest today, Robinhood co-founder Vlad Tenev. Tenev went to Stanford in 2004 looking to become an academic, first studying physics and later math. During this time, he met and became good friends with his co-founder Baiju Bhatt. Together, they started a bootstrapped and profitable software company called Chronos Research, which was formed to respond to the increased influence of algorithmic trading in the financial industry. This inspired them to build something bigger than just software that helps hedge funds and banks optimize their trading. Robinhood is a no-fee stock trading app with a mission to open up access to the American financial system. So, whereas other discount brokerages charge $7-$10 for every trade and have account minimums of $500-$2,000, with Robinhood, there are no minimums and no trading commissions, thus tapping into an underserved part of the market. Join us to learn how Robinhood went from a clever idea to a billion dollar valuation.

An absolute must listen for entrepreneurs!
@jason brings it! I've been listening to TwiST for about a year now. Stitcher is the main way I do it now. It's gotten to be effortless. Thanks for that. Where to start with TwiST? If you have a desire to build a company of any kind...you have to listen to this show. Buried in @jason's interviews are a "gold mine" of useful tips and stories about how successful companies are built, funded and run. This is the new business school. I'm not getting an MBA. I was going to, but instead, I'm going to try a startup. It's a heck of a lot cheaper and I know I'll learn a lot more!

A Cool Show
A good show to keep posted on the latest ideas and trends in the Valley. Sometimes they invite founders of really cool startups to talk about their missions and how they came up with the idea, and the technology behind. I love those episodes the most. They will also have idea review sessions like the one on shark tank. Native advertising will come up somewhere during the show, but if you like tools and have a geeky heart, it won't sound like ad to you. ;)

Calacanis is the Gold Standard
Jason Calacanis runs an amazing program. His pace is frenetic and yet at the same time insightful, meaningful, and in some instances spiritually profound. From CEO's to VC guru's, you can always rest assured that the time you invest in listening to Jason's show will be well spent. I've been listening for 6 months, and will continue to listen for (hopefully) many more to come!

Awesome!
I love Jason's no BS approach to the subject. I am in the process of starting a business and have learned more from the 5 or so episodes i have listened to than in 6 months of previous research! Awesome guests and interviews. He also demystifies the lingo and is considerate enough to define terms for novices. Thank you for putting together such a great show.

A must for anyone starting a business
Easily the most broadly informative show for people starting a business (and not just a "tech start up" like the show say. The lesson go much further and whether they are addressing a specific topic or just talking to successful founders, there is always something to learn. I just need to find out how to get all their old episodes!
