In this episode of the AVB podcast, we turn the tables and our host A.J. Venden Berghe becomes our guest as we celebrate the AVB.com becoming 1 year old this month. Our host this week is Mike Beauchamp. You’ve been listening to AJ’s ‘big mouth’ as he would put it (and proud of it) this entire year promoting the arts and culture scene of Windsor, Ontario with all the passion that his vocal chords can express. He is truly as passionate about spreading the word in Windsor as his voice makes it seem. AJ is most certainly on to something by creating this podcast in order to get people’s attention and point to the great things happening in Windsor.
Part of the pursuit to expose Windsor comes from the fact that AJ is “an artist first and foremost” and he understands and has experienced the evolution of the arts and culture scene in Windsor first hand. AJ has dabbled in various forms of art he mentions, including photography, videography, and at one point was a semi-professional poker player. He feels there is an “art to doing anything”, the trick being “finding what motivates you and introducing new elements”. AJ always had a curiosity for how things work and thus his intrigue to essentially break people down and get to the root of someone’s soul or in his words “where is the thing, that makes this the thing it is?”
This being episode 53, AJ did not foresee theAVB.com podcast coming this far. He feels that not planning it is partly the reason for its success. This time around AJ said “F*@k it!” and he didn’t care what happened, he just wanted to finally do what he likes. It started off with calling up his friends to simply have a conversation, recorded of course, and it turned into conversations about Windsor and the rest is history… Now, AJ has also developed the Windsor Music Archive that highlights Windsor music across the years. If you’re a face-book ‘goer’, AJ has also created a live stream called #WhatsUpWindsor where he tunes in regularly letting us all know what is going on in Windsor at the moment.
In this podcast, AJ also talks to us about truck driving, finance, his favourite bands in Windsor right now, and also mentions how we can come together as a community to further build the ever growing music scene. Not gonna’ spoil this one folks!
The Windsor community truly needs to give this man kudos for what he has started , and the best way to do that
