The Power of a Sabbatical
Welcome back to Season 2 Episode 3. Today I am going to talk about the power of a sabbatical. What I'm already finding just with two and a half months off my business is that I have finally given myself the space to reflect and to look back on all the accomplishments that I've had so far, that maybe, just maybe, I'd forgotten about. If you are a business owner, you totally know what I am talking about. How often do we pat ourselves on our back and congratulate ourselves on how far we've come? Seven years in business, that's how long it's been since I had my business, since I started officially April 2010 and until I took the timeout and time off of my business, I didn't realize all the things that I'd actually managed to do. The reason why that came about is when I had the down time to not be working on stuff, I took a trip down memory lane and thought about the products and services that I've created since I started, all the blog posts that I've written. I had a few people linking to blog posts from like 2011 and I was like, "I wrote that post? This is actually pretty good.” Then I just had a chance to reconnect with clients from years ago, from cleaning stuff up and going back through old folders, I forgot that I've coached these people. I wondered, where are they now and what are they doing? So when I am back online in July, I really want to reconnect with some of my first ever clients and community members. What it's forced me to do on the sabbatical is actually go back to my roots and think about all the things I loved when I first started out. If you think back to your business, what were the things that made you so excited and so happy to be doing what you did that got you up every single morning and kept you up late at night when you were hustling and doing everything you wanted to do on your business? What were those things? The reason I even needed to take a break from my business is I'd forgotten what I loved about it in the first place. So this sabbatical has helped me to gain perspective. It's forced me into slightly darker places where I've been playing the comparison game. Because I've been watching on social media from the sidelines, people doing things and launching. And I just get caught up in that and normally my go to is I'd follow that launch, I emulate it, I take notes from it, improve on it and learn fro

Loving Natalie Sisson & The Suitcase Entrepreneur
Definitely love Natalie Sisson's podcast The Suitcase Entrepreneur and look forward to each new episode (sometimes it's hard to wait a whole week). Episode 99 was a favorite with Greg Denning and his stories about traveling the world as a family - something Stacia Loo and I aspire to do as well.
Hoping Natalie will allow us to interview her in a couple weeks when we are in Vancouver BC for her workshop.

Being authentic & creating a community
I really love this podcast! It is smart, interesting and definitely pushed me to ask the right questions in my life. Now, I'm big steps ahead of where I started and I really think it is thanks to Natalie. There are just few powerful kickass women and I really love her approach. If you like an authentic voice without being dogmatic this podcast is for you.
