Welcome to The Rich Outdoors Hunting Podcast. I am coming to you from deer camp at my cabin this week, where I am chasing whitetail with the old smoke pole. Late season deer hunts are one of my favorite hunts of the year. There’s just something about hunting deer in the snow that tugs at my heart. So of course, before I set off for this hunt, I reached out to fellow podcaster Mark Kenyon of Wired to Hunt podcast, to talk late season hunting tactics. Mark is a whitetail fanatic and a wealth of knowledge when it comes to whitetail hunting and whitetail behavior. Mark has a great podcast and I highly recommend checking it out if you are into whitetails at all. In this episode, we chat about late season hunting tactics, post-rut deer behavior, tips for sealing the deal in the final days of season, and much more. I am only a couple days into my own late-season hunt, but like many hunts it is proving to hold its own unique challenges. Just today, I got over a foot of snow with heavy winds making visibility about 50 to 100 yards. As we discuss in the episode, if you had the whole month of December, you would only hunt days leading up to or after a big storm front, but with limited days to hunt like myself, you are stuck trying to make it happen in less than ideal circumstances. I hope you enjoy this episode, and if you took anything away from it that may make you a better hunter be sure to share it with a hunting buddy or two.
