The Nerd/Noir Podcast
About This Show
Creativity – it’s the juice that fuels everything. Every a-ha moment, every ha-ha moment. Everything that makes us sit up and take notice. It raises questions and solves problems. Creativity is the new, it is the exciting, it surprises us. But how do you get there? Where do you find inspiration? What do you do when you get stuck? The Nerd/Noir podcast is about all these things; and also just about having some damn fine conversation. We’ll talk to people from a multitude of disciplines – for musicians to techies, from photographers to puppeteers, from painters to chefs. Writers, sculptors and circus freaks – we’re interested in them all, and we think you will be too. Stop by for some entertaining and engaging dialogues. Funny, thought-provoking, occasionally even meaningful – the Nerd/Noir podcast asks: How’d you come up with that?

This week we have the distinct pleasure of sitting down with brothers and collaborators Kenneth and A.B. Lovell - aka Andy as you’ll hear during our chat. Kenneth & A.B. grew up in Alabama, spending several years on their parents’ hydroponic tomato farm - running through the woods, learning to play dozens of musical instruments, creating art and ultimately developing their unique brand of “Zen Dixie”. Their shared passion is one of “being in creative situations, working out creative problems.”
Kenneth wears many hats in the musical space - including, but not limited to: musician, composer, mixer, sounds designer and producer. A.B. works in several visual art mediums focusing primarily on sculpture and painting. Together, the brothers have “made up” numerous bands in multiple genres, recording over 30 albums - a story you have to hear to believe.
Topics include: the collective consciousness, engineering, letting go of your creations, the importance of knowing you have an audience, tool mastery, “Fat Albert in Space”, songs about men, extending the moment of flow, degrees of awesome, and doing a backside boneless. We hope you enjoy!
