The Bay Area is filled with art. Whether found on the street murals, chic galleries, or museums, we’re lucky that we have made our home amongst the creatives. And with our support, the indy galleries and artists can tell rarely told and fascinating stories. But as the cost of living rises, the disparity between those who make art and those who buy art widens. This was made painfully clear from the Ghost Ship fire, where many artists lived and worked, in an attempt to find a workaround to the rents that make living here prohibitive. So we encourage you to go out of your way to find and support art that illuminates the colorful voices and varied experiences of our neighbors. In this episode of 360BayArea, we chat with the SF Director of Cultural Affairs, a curator, the staff of SOMArts, and a gallery owner, who sheds light on the fine art of the art game. Press play now to get tips on buying your next piece of art and hear from insiders who are managing galleries, supporting them and curating shows in the hustle that is art! Because as we all know, the Earth without art is just… eh!
