Amie Prescott is a regular on Rules of Success and began her journey as a Pilates Instructor in early 2012. Based off of the teachings of Joseph Pilates. the process to certification is one of the most involved in the modern era of sports instructional training . The curriculum to receive certification includes over 500 hours of studio time which includes 250 hours of teaching and observing and another 250+ of practical application for four different disciplines; the wunda chair, the cadillac, the reformer and mat work. The testing includes execution of movement and basic and advanced anatomy. After learning more about pilates it had become clear that it is a great addition to any training regiment and goes hand in hand with the commitment of Rules of Success to seek and obtain balance in life. We discuss with Amie her newfound passion, her knowledge and journey toward combing a business element to her fitness goals. Tidbits from the show: - There are six core focuses of Pilates and they translate to life. 1. Breath 2. Concentration on Your Movement 3. Connection to your Center 4. Control of Your Body 5. Precision and Exactness of Movement 6. Finding Your Flow - If we apply these focuses toward any area of life it’s a recipe for success. - The Pilates reformer was first used with injured veteran of WW2 that allowed you to be in a laying down position and still help your range of motion. - A large percentage of current fitness movements with resistance bands etc. was derived from the practices of Joseph Pilates. - Most high level professional athletes incorporate some form of Pilates. - For heavy weight lifting moves, it’s simple.
