Thoughts, if we don't have a good relationship with them, can drive us crazy. They can go endlessly round and round, stirring up negative emotions like anger, predjudice, jealousy, and so on. Though these are fleeting states of mind, we tend to hold onto them and identify with them, thus allowing them to take hold of us and cause trouble for ourselves and others. In order to be happy all the time, you need to know that you are not your thoughts.
