#Podcast – Your Personality and Your Career
5 days ago
Today’s episode of the podcast is a follow-up to an earlier episode on Self Discovery, I have titled this – “Your Personality and Your Career”.
The term “personality” refers to a person’s patterns of thinking, feeling and acting. It has to do with individual differences among people – differences in behavioural patterns, cognition and emotion. The study of personality is based on the essential insight that all people are similar in some ways, yet different in others.
Understanding of who you are is a journey and not an event. At best, you can ONLY gain insight into your personality by way of researched personality theories. Notable among them is the Personality Type Theory.
Research has shown that people are happiest and most successful in jobs that allow them to use their greatest natural gifts. It suffices to say that your personality unconsciously predicts a career suited for you.
In the podcast episode, I delved into the MBTI Personality Type Indicator. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is one of the most universally acceptable personality indicators.
An understanding of these personality types gives you a comprehensive picture of yourself and what is important to you in life, which you can then apply in determining your career fit.
