Remembering Richard Hatch. Richard Hatch was best known for his portrayal as Apollo in the original Battlestar Galactica, a role that earned him an Emmy Award nomination in 1979. Throughout his career, he would star in many television and film roles including a stint on All My Children, and the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica in 2004. Star Trek fans know him as Kharn, the Klingon Commander from the film Prelude to Axanar. In this episode of the official Axanar Podcast, Alec Peters, Robert Meyer Burnett, and Diana Kingsbury share stories of their friend and mentor, Richard Hatch, who died on February 7th, 2017 due to pancreatic cancer. This podcast provides a very interesting look behind the scenes of Axanar, a fan film (excuse me, independent production) currently in the works. I have yet to watch their prequel short, Prelude to Axanar, but if it's even half as good as those guys make it sound, it's got to be some of the best Trek since DS9.
