The 2005 Braves were truly the end of an era, as they were the last in the run of 14 straight division winners. At the time, though, they felt like a new era, as they were propelled by "The Baby Braves," young players like Brian McCann, Kelly Johnson, Kyle Davies, Blaine Boyer, and especially Jeff Francouer. When added to a team built around Rafael Furcal, Marcus Giles, John Smoltz, Chipper Jones, and Andruw Jones in his best year, the team got propelled to another division title. Alas, it was not meant to be, as the team lost the NLDS to the Astros in a heartbreaking 18 inning game. They wouldn't make the postseason again for another five years, which seemed like a horrible draught after the success of the 1990s.
