It’s that time of the week again for Philosophy of the World to invade your head space. On episode 25 Steve and Carr are joined by Keith Rankin, the man behind the Giant Claw moniker, one-half of Cream Juice, and co-owner of the Orange Milk label. This week we delve into the sub-genre of vaporwave, discuss its merits, drawbacks, tropes and how Keith views his place in the underground movement. Meanwhile he shares several jams from forthcoming Orange Milk artists and some of his own. We listen to an unreleased Giant Claw track, a polyphonic tune from Bruce Smear, a spaced out sampling from the prolific GRONOS1 and a finely composed romp from Bataille Solaire. Steve shares some mad-scatting from Harold Alexander, a trance-inducer from International Novelty Gamelan and a face-melter from Fire! Carr throws in a wickedly warped tune from Courtesy, a private press American kosmische song from Moolah and some classic synthpop from Kraftwerk.
