137 (Improv for Business) - Positive and Progressive Thinking Can Transform Your Business
2 days ago
I've been performing improv comedy for more than a year and have found an amazing creative outlet. During my divorce, when I was depressed and highly stressed, I was guaranteed laughs every week. Improv truly saved me, but it gave me so much more. One thing that has become transforming is the idea that everything in improv comedy is centered around positive and progressive thinking. This made me realize that so often in business we stifle these aspects instead of fostering them. Often egos get in the way and we worry that someone else will be put in the limelight. Why do firms like Google and Facebook create amazing environments where employees work long and hard hours, but love every moment? It's because they encourage progressive ideas. Everyone is encouraged to be creative and to share. And you thought it was for the free soda... What if you're a solopreneur? Or you only have limited involvement with managing individuals? How can you benefit? Well, what are you doing to move forward? Are you focused on doing? Or more on becoming? Positive and progressive thinking is for anyone and it's something you can easily master.
