James loves talking about WordPress and believes that it is one of the reasons why the internet has grown so quickly. There have been other services which have helped with the internet’s growth including Paypal.
WordPress is a Content Management System (CMS) which was originally designed in 2005 to be used by website owners to power their blogs. However, with time the platform has gained even greater functionality.
WordPress isn’t a platform which is exclusive for small business owners. Many large businesses such as Ebay, Sony and Forbes use WordPress at least partially. According to some research, WordPress powers 22% of all websites online.
Back in 1999, James used Microsoft’s front page. In 2001-2002 he developed his own CMS system called Easysite Builder. This was an excellent system, but because it needed a full time developer, it was expensive.
For four years he continued on with his own CMS until he was looking for a solution to a functionality problem he had. It was here that he stumbled across WordPress. At this point, the system was still in its infancy.
However, even at this young stage the platform had all the functionality that his current CMS had and what he wanted. He decided to take the plunge and try it out.
From there he has built hundreds and hundreds of websites for his clients and his own using WordPress.
