She is the author of Don't Count Me Out! and Grade Transformer for the Modern Student Early High School Edition.
Barbara explained what dyslexia is, that about 10-15% of the population have it, and without inadequate intervention how it can harm a students self-confidence. She explained how she overcame her own dyslexia and the approaches she uses to help retrain the brain through understanding the student's strengths and weaknesses and encourage a lot of work on the part of the student so the student can achieve normally in academics.
