About This Show
The US100 invites you to join an epic journey across the American musical landscape.
In Winter last year, Jarek Zaba embarked on what he thought would simply be an extended holiday in the United States. Fast forward 9 months he has found his days transformed as he has become full time curator of the US100: 100 songs he has picked at the heart of America, based on the geography of the trip he made.
Through these podcasts and his website, theus100.com, Jarek will explain why he has chosen the tracks in question and what they mean to him, as he will attempts to unearth the fascinating stories behind the artists and movements who made them happen. You will hear the tracks themselves, and Jarek is also ambitiously trying to contact each US100 artist: to bestow them with their official US100 membership certificate.
Whether exploring country, soul, folk, metal, blues, jazz, or hip hop, Jarek will be joined by trusty Producer BD and lovable fall guy, Chris Kelly - specifically chosen for his lack of familiarity with the subject.
Batches of songs will be released periodically through the website and podcast, so be sure to subscribe and follow on social media to get the latest US100 updates.

Festive cheer arrives in the form of our two part US100 Christmas party, as our three songs cover almost 80 years of New York City's musical history. In the first of our two parts, Jarek begins by dedicating the party to Sharon Jones, the third artist covered who sadly passed away a few days prior to recording. BD and Chris are then delighted to receive their Make America Enjoyable Again baseball caps, which arrive courtesy of Bob Dylan in full St Nick spirit. The boys then pay a visit to 1930s Harlem, Manhattan to frequent the Cotton Club, taking in the performance of band leader Cab Calloway (NB: born on Christmas Day), before learning more about how his music relates to the enforcement of both prohibition and racial segregation within the US at the time. And in Challenge Chris, Chris manages to become the first person to ever link Cab Calloway to Pol Pot. We end the first part by playing The Ronettes' Be My Baby, as Part 2 looks forward to exploring the mad world of Phil Spector, his Wall of Sound, and one of the most definitive Christmas albums ever produced, as well as looking at Sharon Jones' story and the only Christmas song of the US100. Look out for for Part 2 on all major platforms.
