How does the Bible define Love?
What is the moral state of our country - of the world? Do people love each other as God commands?
There have been a good number of books written about love. However, what does God say love is? Is love a feeling or emotion only or is it much more? Does love have something to do with obeying His commandments and instructions?
Love in Hebrew is ahavah (ah ha va).
ahavah: A feminine noun meaning love. The word often signifies a powerful, intimate love between a man and a woman (Gen. 29:20; Song 2:4, 5, 7); love between friends (2 Sam. 1:26); God’s love for His people (Isa. 63:9; Hos. 3:1). Frequently, it is associated with forming a covenant, which enjoins loyalty (Deut. 7:8). When used in an abstract way, the word designates a desirable personal quality, which connotes affection and faithfulness (Prov. 15:17; 17:9).
