Mr. Tribe may be a scholar of Constitutional Law, but that doesn't preclude him from being a political hack or just a plain jerk. The opinion piece In the Jeff Bezos Blog (aka The Washington Post) attempts to make the case that President Trump should be impeached. The article is terribly irresponsible and thinly supported by any "high crimes and misdemeanors." Tribe asserts that Trump is a "president whose conduct strongly suggests he poses a danger to our system of government." Presidents are not impeached for conduct suggesting they pose a danger. They are impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors. Tribe was silent during the Obama years when a fellow Liberal Constitutional scholar, Jonathan Turley testified before Congress that Obama was crossing the threshold of a threat to Constitutional government. Tribe also was silent on numerous Obama violations that could have easily ended in impeachment and removal. Here are a few examples: 1) the denial of due process rights to the victims of the BP Deepwater Horizon spill when Obama extorted $20 billion from BP and personally appointed the person in control of those funds. 2) defying the will and usurpatio of the legislative authority of the Congress by amending black letter law for the Affordable Care Act on at least 36 separate occasions and also changing Immigration law. 3) violating over 300 years of the common law practice in bankruptcies of placing the claims of creditors ahead of shareholders. Obama's political allies in the Chrysler bankruptcy were shareholders and he ordered their claims to be settled before the creditors. The credit markets were roiled as a result. 4) Obama committed fraud in the inducement when he promised that Americans could keep both their doctors and insurance plans when HHS documents revealed he knew for an entire year that the would not. To the extent Americans made their 2012 vote decision on that assertion, made dozens of times, Obama committed fraud in the inducement.
