Episode 1! We introduce ourselves: Co-host Brian W. Stewart, and podcast creator/producer Brian McQuilkin. News Items: Stewart discusses the new trailer for Star Wars: Rogue One, the newest movie in the series of films that in many ways represent the pinnacle of geek culture, made great again by a restraining order set against George Lucas. Rogue One is set to release on December 15, 2016. Watch the trailer here: https://youtu.be/frdj1zb9sMY McQuilkin talks about The Dark Tower movie and just confirmed TV show – adaptations of the epic Stephen King series of novels. McQuilkin dislikes the first book, hates the ending of the last book more than he hates cancer, but still professes his undying love for Stephen King and his excitement for the new movie and TV show. The Meat: The meat of the episode is a rambling discussion of whether the J.J. Abrams reboot of Star Trek is faithful to the tradition, ideals, and themes of Star Trek, or if it’s just an action movie in space with the Star Trek label and character names’ slapped on it. What we’re geeking about this week: Stewart again espouses his unstoppable love for Star Wars: Rogue One, and, well, come on – if there’s one thing that deserves our love, it’s this movie. Until the internet watches it and tears it apart for not being everything that everyone expects and wants. Love ya, internets! What would we do without your unreasonable hatred for everything? McQuilkin recounts the UGA v. Vandy game that he attended in Athens that day, and attempts to shift blame for Georgia’s single-point loss from him and onto Georgia’s special teams. Email us!
