EXP Podcast #425: Embarrassing Games
You won't find more stalwart defenders of video games as an artistic medium than Jorge and me, but even we have our moments of feeling self conscious. How does one describe the plot of Metal Gear Solid or talk about the hour the spent trying to shape a virtual brow line without feeling just a tad embarrassed? This week we revisit the concept of game shame, recount sick burns from loved ones, and try to rationally justify our relationship with Tom Nook.

I've been listening to the Experience Points podcast off and on for a few years, but have lately been listening nonstop, including exploring their back catalog. Hosts Jorge and Scott are the real thing, hardcore and old-school gamers from that apply analysis of tropes, themes, setting, story, artistic creativity, characters, and much more through the games they've been playing or encountered at events (Games for Change, E3, PAX, etc.). From Goat Simulator to Titanfall, games showcased can include indie games you've never heard of to impressions of hotly anticipated titles they have had hands on experience with. Yet they accomplish exploring these ideas in an amalgam of light-hearted conversation, jokes, anecdotes, and experiences. These are the kind of guys you want to drink a beer with, play some videogames, and have a good time. Their podcast evokes just that.
