Are you in search of a new television show that will blow your mind with 'WTF' moments? BBC America's new hit show, DIRK GENTLY'S HOLISTIC DETECTIVE AGENCY does that and more. There are plenty of shows that can toy with its viewers' suspension of disbelief by utilizing mystical and magical elements; however, what DIRK GENTLY does is something entirely different. This show draws you in with compelling characters that you can relate to, and then hits you in the face with the supernatural. While the insane occurrences are entertaining as hell, this show, in its roots, is about its characters' journeys, not necessarily the crazy events surrounding them. Recently, I got a chance to talk with actress Fiona Dourif, who plays Bart in the show. Bart is probably one of the most complex and strongest female leads I have ever seen in any film or TV series. Even more impressive and rare, is how intentionally desexualized the character is. Bart is a holistic assassin, on a mission to kill her main target, Dirk Gently. She cannot and will not die because the universe will not allow it. In this interview, Fiona and I discuss what it is like to play a socially inept character. We also discuss strong female leads in Hollywood as well as the insanity behind this Max Landis show that has just been renewed for a second season! DIRK GENTLY'S HOLISTIC DETECTIVE AGENCY airs Saturdays at 9PM ET on BBC America.
