Chip and Cern tackle the top music videos of the 80’s , 90’s and 00’s. Chip missed out on most music videos in his youth, and has never seen the Thriller music video. They break down the top 10 videos for each decade to decide what needs to be seen for good cultural context and references. Chip was getting into a big Weird Al kick and his wife said “this is just like the Beat It music video,” to which Chip had never seen that or Thriller. So Chip thought there is some iconic music videos that cannot be missed. MTV was the birth of the music video which debuted on August 1st 1981. The first music video was Video Killed the Radio Star. The second was Pat Benatar, You Better Run. Cern has some great knowledge of these music videos because his dad would always watch MTV when Cern was in his youth. 80’s 10.
