The Londonpreneur Show
About This Show
The purpose of this podcast is to document and share my experiences as I create my own business in the beautiful city of London, Ontario, Canada. I started a digital media company called Carter Creations in April 2014. So far I have met dozens of wonderful and supportive people who have given me not only advice, but also motivation and inspiration. This podcast is a way for me to say thank you to them and to share with you their knowledge, stories and experiences.

Ep #107 Gerry Slattery - Director of Medix College, London Campus

Sometimes it amazes me how I get connected to certain people in this world. Never knowing really why they are being brought into my life at certain times or for what reason. What I thought would be a great idea to tap into the private school industry here in London, Canada turned out to be a lesson in positive thinking and subconscious programming. See, I recently had the opportunity to offer my marketing consulting to the D'Arcy Lane school of massage therapy because of my equestrian interests. I had a great idea for them to build their brand as the Ivy League of massage schools, since they offered both human and equine massage therapy training. I pitched the marketing campaign idea to the London Economic Development Corporation trying to convince them that it would draw more students to London and the city would amplify it's reputation for health care services. They liked the idea and connected me with the influential people at the other massage training schools in the city. First up was Gerry Slattery. I did some research and learned that Gerry is a huge fan of rugby especially back in his homeland Ireland. He has been director of Medix College for 10 years now and we both are fans of Gary Vaynerchuk the YouTube star and CEO of Vayner Media. Then I was struck with a better idea. The Londonpreneur Show would be a great platform to encourage Londoners to start their own business in the health care industry. One of my personal beliefs is: creating your job is better than finding on! I became curious also about the private school industry in the city as well as the trends in the health care industry. What sort of changes are coming and what opportunities have not been tapped yet. What I didn't expect was to learn first hand how Gerry gives a personal guided tour of the facility and all the programs available. Throughout the tour I saw certain trends. Architectural design to create a warm and calm atmosphere, state of the art technology with a focus for hands on learning and positive mantras, I call them, posted on nearly every wall. Words of encouragement filled the lunch room and subtle hints at how to be not only successful but happy were written everywhere your eyes rested. Gary Vaynerchuk always said that leadership starts at the top by setting an example and as you will hear in my interview, Gerry has set the bar for all the students of Medix to follow.
