We talk about weight loss frequently on the show. From our own weight loss to the incredible transformations of guests it is always exciting and inspiring for me to here how other men and women have found plans that work for their lifestyles and in doing so reach their goals and become healthier individuals. Losing weight is great, and with the obesity epidemic America is facing, it is important to discuss the methodologies that people use to lose the weight, but health, wellness, and longevity is also very important, and sometimes those things get put on the back burner while we are counting macros or crash dieting in order to get ready for a vacation, reunion, or other big event.
What if there was a lifestyle that would allow you to look amazing, perform better, and possibly stave off cancer in the future?
The Ketogenic Diet may be the answer to those questions, and Chris Irvin is here today to answer all of our questions and provide great resources for us to look into.
Chris is a graduate of Illinois College in 2014 with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology with Exercise Science. He also played basketball for 4 years and baseball for 2 during my undergraduate time. Following graduation he was a strength and conditioning coach for middle school, high school, and collegiate athletes. After a year of work he returned to school to acquire his Master's Degree in Exercise and Nutrition Science at the University of Tampa under Dr. Jacob Wilson.
Chris was first introduced to the ketogenic diet by Dr. Wilson and Ryan Lowery, and during his final semester at UT Chris volunteered at USF in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology (Dr. D'Agostino's lab) under Dr. Angela Poff and Dr. Shannon Kesl.
Chris is now working to continue to broaden his knowledge on the ketogenic diet through research as well as, raising awareness behind the science of the diet through several different platforms.
When I first heard the Ketogenic diet mentioned it was from Dr. Dom D’Agostino on Tim Ferris’ podcast (link to his first episode here). I was floored by the amount of information presented during the show. Dr. D’Agostino was researching the relationship between the Ketogenic Diet and the treatment of cancer, and his findings were remarkable. Ever since then my goals has been to learn as much as I can about this diet, and in doing so I came across a scientist putting out great content daily on social media about the Ketogenic Diet.
I would like to thank Ch
