The Broken Brain
About This Show
The Broken Brain is a podcast with a Psychotherapist's view of life and culture. Hosted by Dwight Hurst, a licensed Mental Health Counselor, the show takes a look at trauma recovery, addiction, relationships, and popular culture. Sometimes we talk about suicide prevention, sometimes we review a movie with a psychological bent. Interviews with ground breakers in the treatment world, panel discussions on mental health subjects, and stupid jokes sprinkled throughout. Enjoy Breaking your Brain around something interesting with me.

Self Care by Janet Mitchell
A Rerun of one of our most popular training episodes: Another wonderful training at Aspire for Continuing Education Units (CEU) to help all of us counselors keep our licenses. This one is by Licensed Clinical Social Worker Janet Mitchell. Janet is an expert in the area of Self Care, which is defined as the ability to increase, improve, and maintain mental health through a healthy lifestyle. More than just a reminder to exercise and eat right, Janet has created some tools and techniques to help us to identify which areas of our life will increase our ability to zone into a meditative or mindful place of health.

Fascinating show, one of my favorites
Highly insightful, always relevant topics, great guests. I find myself listening to some episodes over and over. The perspective of practicing psychologists is particularly interesting.
