About This Show
Do you feel like a failure when it comes to your wellness and fitness journey? You've tried the diets, the countless fitness programs, and all the superfoods, but nothing seems to stick. Hi, I'm Ali Reti, former national fitness trainer turned wellness and fitness activist, and I'm here to tell you a secret: You're not a failure—the industry is failing you. After working in the fitness industry for over a decade, I realized people weren't in pursuit of losing those last 10 pounds, but rather they craved something deeper. To achieve self-acceptance and freedom from the tightly wound restrictions they'd placed on themselves. The Progress Over Perfection podcast will help you release the societal shame of looking perfect and being perfect, so you can live a life free from diets, restriction and shame. Are you ready to let go of the false hope that's being sold and the empty promise that a perfect body will somehow heal you? Then join me each week as I address taboo topics with thought leaders in the industry who are paving the way to a new standard. Say goodbye to the "rules" once and for all, so you too can choose progress over perfection.

Ep 025: The Hustle For Worthiness

We're back with our 25th episode of the Progress over Perfection podcast. Today, I'm talking about "The Hustle For Worthiness," inspired by Brene Brown. A close friend of mine recently confided in me that she feels unworthy in her new job. Knowing her, I knew without a doubt she was giving 110%, but she still felt like no matter how hard she worked she needed to keep proving herself. That got me wondering, how many of us spend our lives "proving" ourselves to others? Whether it's in a job or relationship, the hustle for worthiness can only lead to one thing: disappointment. Show Notes: The Pathway to Worthiness: 1. Being careful not to connect our worth to things outside ourselves: Jobs, Relationships, Status, etc. 2. Acknowledge when you're seeking external validation --Example, Facebook 3. We've talked a lot about self-care and self-love on the podcast, but I want you to ask yourself if you're really doing this? Taking time to reconnect with yourself helps to diminish the external need. 4. Success comes from believing you're worthy- they hired you for a reason, they see greatness in you. Don't make up a story that they think all these things, that'll get those demons running laps in your mind. Resources: Interview with Brene & Oprah: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZR0-WFUfeE
