About This Show
Alan Meaney has worked with sound for many years in many different aspects. Currently working as an independent radio producer, he specialises in radio drama and documentaries and is an accomplished sound recordist and editor. He has received Sound & Vision funding from the BAI 20 times in 5 years for various different projects and is available as a consultant for advice on these and other funding applications.
Alan has worked as Studio Coordinator at RTE. Here he worked for RTE JR and Documentary on One in both editorial and operational roles.
He was the production manager for Galway’s Flirt FM for 3 years and continues to produce and present https://www.mixcloud.com/feedmeweirdthings/; a weekly electronic/leftfield music show for the station.
Alan is fascinated by sound, while continually working on new audio projects.

Sound Conversations is a new short radio documentary series on https://www.mixcloud.com/feedmeweirdthings/ on Flirt FM 101.3 every Wednesday until September 2015.
The programme showcases the work and creative inspiration of fifteen of Ireland’s most exciting sound practitioners across a wide spectrum of audio disciplines.
In a short chat, participants discuss their inspirations and work in sound. Each interview is recorded on location chosen by the interviewee and takes its cues from the sounds in this location.
The series was made by producer Alan Meaney and Sound Artist La Cosa Preziosa. It is funded by the BAI with the television licence fee.
Episode 15 features David Stalling & Anthony Kelly: Sound artists. In The Royal Marine Hotel, we discussed the nature of collaboration, how sound creativity can be inspired by childhood, and more.
