I’m Jessica Gazzola, a Catholic priest.
And I’m Francis Krebs, Presiding Bishop of The Ecumenical Catholic Communion. And you’re listening to “A Priest and a Bishop Walk into a Story: a podcast of the Ecumenical Catholic Communion.”
You’ve walked into an ongoing conversation on progressive Catholic life. Our faith never stands still but always evolves and, here, stories are the agent of change for the open minded and whole hearted.
On today’s show we walk into the story of Scott Jenkins, pastor of Church of the Holy Family in Aurora, CO, and director of the nonprofit organization, Celtic Way. Scott is a man shaped and motivated by his relationships. It has made him a much beloved pastor, known to run toward difficulty and pain to love and serve people, helping them make meaning through the joys and trials of life. But more recently a very personal, even mystical experience placed his feet firmly on the path of the Celtic Way. Celtic Spirituality is an ancient spiritual tradition that made its home in the Celtic-speaking world of the British Isles and Ireland.
The Celtic spiritual tradition captured Scott’s mind and heart and moved him to found the non-profit organization, The Celtic Way, that seeks to serve people outside of denominational boundaries; in particular those in need of rest, renewal and rejuvenation such as civil servants, at-risk youth and the poor and marginalized.
