On Saturday November 24th beginning at 12noon ET,  some of your favorite podcasters will come together to support the Sandy relief effort with 24 hours of entertainment.

Finalists for The Stitcher Awards Announced!

The finalists for the first annual Stitcher Awards have just been announced! The Stitcher Awards recognizes best-of-the-best in on demand radio and podcasts for 2012. Six finalists were selected in each of the 20 different categories, based on over 55,000 votes. Starting today and running through November 5th, you’ll have the final say in who will be recognized for the best of 2012. Winners will be announced in December at the first annual Stitcher Awards ceremony, to be held in San Francisco.

NPR leads the nominations and other finalists include CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, NPR, KCRW, BBC Radio and the Wall Street Journal. A full list of the nominees is available here and includes:

The Stitcher Awards are here!

Today we launch the first annual Stitcher Awards to seek out the best and brightest of on demand radio and podcasts for 2012. Listeners can nominate their favorite shows across 20 different categories – from Best Comedy to Best New Show. Stitcher has over 10,000 different shows streaming on demand and we’re excited to let our listeners help determine the best programming of 2012. It’s been an amazing year for us and we’re excited about the opportunity to recognize all of the great, creative work being done in on demand radio.

Nominations will be open until October 19th. Fans can nominate their shows everyday for the next two weeks. We’ll announce the finalists shortly afterwards for each category and announce the winners live in San Francisco during the 2012 Stitcher Awards show!

Cache Me Everywhere – Where do People Want to Listen Offline?

Stitcher listeners can now seamlessly access and discover the best of over 10,000 shows anywhere, regardless of cellular or WiFi connectivity.  A recent survey of Stitcher listeners found that the ability to listen offline is critical on the go, with 38 percent of listeners indicating they will listen in the car, 23 percent when flying and 15 percent when traveling abroad.

Worried about apps eating into your mobile data plan? Our survey found that that 38 percent of Stitcher listeners prefer offline listening to protect against potential mobile data overages.  Fear not Stitcher fans, streaming audio is lightweight. More insights from our survey:
